Cold calling can be one of the most intimidating and challenging parts of real estate, but it doesn’t have to be! Being successful in cold calling potential leads requires knowledge, practice, and strategic planning. Keep reading to find out more about how to do cold calling as a real estate agent.

1. Develop an overall plan for your cold calling approach

Rather than just indiscriminately picking up the phone and calling random numbers, create a list of targets and consider who is most likely to be interested in what you have to offer. Consider compiling a list of your area’s recent home sales, properties currently on the market, and current and past clients. Prioritize the list by assessing who could benefit the most from your services.

2. Come up with a script for your cold calls

Scripts help to streamline your calls, and make them more effective. Your script should include both introduction and closing statements, so that you consistently give your best impression. Also consider leaving space for any feedback or questions that the caller may have. Don’t forget to sound positive and enthusiastic during the call, as this is key to successful sales.

3. Create a goal-oriented approach to your cold calling

To help you stay focused and on track, plan out the number of calls you plan to make each day, what topics you plan to cover, and other tangible measures that are representative of your goals. Try to commit to reaching out to potential leads on a regular basis, as consistency is key to success.
