History

Located northeast of Dallas, Rockwall was platted on April 17, 1854. Being founded in the mid-1800s, T.U. Wade suggested the town’s name after discovering the rock wall when digging a wall. The rock wall being a natural formation is carried by an old folk tale that says it was built by prehistoric natives.
