Tips to Hosting the Holidays in Your Home

By: Jerika P –  i-Lead Realty Social Media Manager

The holiday season is upon us, and it can be hard to figure out how to keep up with holiday traditions while juggling everyday tasks and a tight budget. Hosting Christmas in your own home can be a good way to keep within your budgetary restraints, and it can be a wonderful experience for yourself and your family or friends if done correctly. With the right planning and preparation, you can host a memorable Christmas in your own home.

1. Budgeting for hosting

Determine if you are going to provide food, beverages, and decorations. If you have a certain budget, create a list of what you will need to buy and shop around for special deals and discounts. Also, remember to factor in the costs of accommodating overnight guests if you host a larger holiday get-together.

2. Christmas decorations

Decorate the exterior of your home using festive lights and garlands; on the inside, include a traditional Christmas tree with a variety of beautiful ornaments. Place cranberry strings and evergreen-themed accents in your living room for a more inviting atmosphere. Add a festive wreath on your front door and make sure each guest is welcomed with a cheerful ‘Merry Christmas.’

3. Planning the perfect meal

A popular option for hosting a smaller group is to include a delicious buffet-style luncheon. Include mouth-watering foods such as deviled eggs, smoked chickpeas, and some roasted vegetables. Use festive-colored fabric placements on the table and set out candles and a festive centerpiece. If you are hosting a larger group, you can opt for a specially catered meal of your own design. Just ensure you have enough food and seating capacity to serve everyone.

4. Arranging activities and entertainment for guests

Have a group gift exchange or a white elephant game, or you could organize a Christmas movie marathon with traditional holiday flicks. If you have a fireplace, pull up a couple of outdoor chairs by the fire and roast marshmallows for some festive fun.
