Realtor Code Words You Should Know!

Here are some realtor code words you should know

1. “As is”

The phrase “as is” is only used when the property cannot be occupied without major repairs. A comparable deceptive phrase that is charitably referred to as a euphemism is the ever-popular “only needs TLC,” which refers to property that undoubtedly requires a significant remodel at the buyer’s expense but doesn’t require anything delicate or caring.

2. “Attention investors”

This statement does not imply that investors should increase their offer for this property. Instead, it’s code for a home that, in some way, makes it difficult or unattractive to anyone who wouldn’t buy it for investment purposes. These problems could range from needing extensive improvements to having a difficult-to-replace present tenant.

3. “Bonus room”

The word “bonus room” used in a house purchasing guide or by a seller’s agent may simply refer to an unfinished area that may be converted into a room. It’s possible that you already have a location similar to it where you store old baby toys as well as perhaps some brooms and mops.

4. “Charming”

“Charming” means being small, confined, or even claustrophobic. If the “C” word comes up, carefully evaluate how living in a small space might affect the rest of your life unless you’re shopping the small home market. Even though, it doesn’t harm to find out the house’s square footage immediately in case it’s genuinely a vast residence.

5. “Close to nightlife”

This term probably doesn’t make much sense to you unless you’re a college fraternity looking for a beautiful area to settle in. Typically, it just refers to a busy after-hours neighborhood that is noisy. A location literally over a bar could also be meant.
