I interviewed agents at the 2022 eXp shareholder summit home of some of the most successful real estate agents in the United States I asked them what would they tell someone who wants to become a real estate agent, or has recently become one…. here’s what they said…
“Be ready for a roller coaster ride of emotions, but it’s a great ride. Be focused. Be mindful of how you spend your time and energy and don’t give up.” – Ismail Kolya
“The first thing I would tell them to do is get with someone that they recognized as a leader in the industry that is producing a lot of real estate and just shadow and have them become a mentor and just basically just shadow them. Follow what they do, listen to how they interact with people and just shadow what they do.” – Chuck Zepp
“That one’s easy. If you’re getting a license, the only thing that matters to you is training, period. You have to get knowledgeable because even brand new agents that are one years in are not very good at that point. There’s a lot more to it than it just seems. It’s not like I’m going to sell a friend’s house. You’ve got liability issues, you’ve got skill set issues, you’ve got negotiating skills. Education is the most important thing. Look for a company that’s going to educate you above everything else. That first year is all learning.” – George Philbeck
“So my advice for someone just coming into real estate is this is your business. You own it. Learn as much as you can. Learn the contracts, because that is your bread and butter and to join eXp.” – Melissa Johnson
