Thanksgiving is just around the corner. Here are simple thanksgiving preparation ideas for your home to help you prepare your home for this festive season!

1. The simple, the better

Although you strive to make your house flawless for your guests, keeping things simple and welcoming will help them enjoy your company more. It also helps reduce the mess that can be made with the additional population. Especially if there are kids, you’ll want to minimize the chances of things getting knocked over and messed up.

2. Clean the kitchen thoroughly

The kitchen will be used for all food preparation, so it’s best to have it thoroughly cleaned and to check that all of your appliances are in good working condition and easily accessible.

3. Prepare the guest room

If your guests will stay in your house, ensure that your guest room is vacuumed well and linens are new, and leave the door open so guest know they can enter and feel welcomed.

4. Get the restroom ready for visitors

Refill all the shampoo and liquid bath soap bottles and remove unnecessary clutter in the bathroom. Provide guests with plenty of counter space. Ensure there are clean towels and the shower is clean and drains working.

5. Tidy up the living areas

Make your living room spacious to provide more room for your guests. This may mean removing the collection of decretive pillows that take up couch space, pulling out extra chairs so everyone can sit and having blankets on standby for the chilly November nights.

6. Early table setting

It’s better to set your table before Thanksgiving to save you from all the rush. But don’t overcrowd the table, you still need to ensure there will be space for food, people and their elbows. Avoid using too many decorations that can also be knocked over, we wouldn’t want candle mash potatoes!

7. Make a space designated for coats and bags

Designate a space for your guest’s belongings. It might be a bathroom cabinet or one by the door. If there are multiple guests try to encourage them to leave extra belongings in their room.
